Care

Asian Water Monitors are one of the largest monitor lizards and require extremely spacious enclosures with both land and a large swimming area. Ambient temperatures should be maintained between 80–88°F, with a basking spot of 125–140°F and nighttime temperatures no lower than 75°F. Humidity should be kept between 70–90% to promote healthy sheds and respiratory health. A varied carnivorous diet consisting of rodents, fish, chicks, eggs, insects, and other whole prey should be offered, along with constant access to clean water deep enough for swimming.
