Care:
Fly River Turtles, also known as Pig-Nosed Turtles, are one of the most unique freshwater turtles in the world. They require a very large aquarium or indoor pond with warm, clean, well-filtered water and plenty of swimming space. Water temperatures should be maintained between 78–82°F, with a varied omnivorous diet consisting of high-quality aquatic turtle pellets, leafy greens, fruits, shrimp, snails, fish, and other aquatic foods. Unlike most freshwater turtles, they spend nearly their entire lives in the water and rarely bask. They are best suited for experienced keepers due to their adult size and specialized care requirements. 

Facts:

• Native to northern Australia, southern New Guinea, and Indonesia.
• Also known as the Pig-Nosed Turtle because of its distinctive snorkel-like snout.
• The only living member of the family Carettochelyidae.
• Has flipper-like front limbs similar to sea turtles, making it an exceptionally strong swimmer.
• Can live 30–40+ years with proper care.
• This species is protected throughout much of its native range due to habitat loss and collection pressure.
