  • Humidity: 50–70%, with daily misting while allowing the enclosure to dry slightly between mistings.
  • Lighting: A low-output UVB (2–5%) is recommended along with a natural day/night light cycle of 12–14 hours.
  • Diet: Gut-loaded crickets, dubia roaches, hornworms, silkworms, and other appropriately sized insects. Dust feeders with calcium regularly and a multivitamin weekly.
  • Behavior: Calm, hardy, and one of the best tree frogs for beginners. They are primarily nocturnal but often become active at dusk and are known for their curious personalities and willingness to perch in the open.

Facts

  • Native to Australia, New Guinea, and parts of Indonesia.
  • Their skin secretes a waxy coating that helps prevent dehydration, allowing them to tolerate drier conditions than many other tree frogs.
  • Their laid-back temperament, adorable “smiling” face, and large size have made them one of the most popular pet frogs in the world.
