Care: Red tegus need a large, secure enclosure with deep substrate for digging and burrowing. Provide a basking area around 110–120°F, with the cooler side around 75–85°F. UVB lighting is recommended. Humidity should generally stay around 60–80%. They are omnivores and should be fed a varied diet including insects, appropriate whole prey, eggs, lean meats, and fruits. Fresh water should always be available.
